See my previous post about EMP and nuclear war.
In 1929, on the eve of the Great Depression when the roaring 20s came to a screaching halt practically overnight, there were no national grocery chains, no just in time delivery systems, no instant gratification fast food joints on every street corner.
In 1929 food was local. And seasonal. The grocery store only carried food it could source locally from farms in the immediate area.
Most people had their own gardens and chickens or some other protein source, and contributed to the community.
Community existed. People looked out for each other, including strangers.
Even then, 7 million people starved to death.
Now imagine today.
