- Please be aware that we are in a year of Cicadas. Copperheads LOVE TO EAT CICADAS. Copperheads also have amazing camouflage up against oak trees. Please just be aware of this at night. You are likely not going to see the snake...maybe not even if your almost stepping on it. Also be aware that is the same for your pets. So late evenings...just be safe and maybe stay clear of the base of Oak trees, etc. keep your eyes open, use a flashlight if walking your dog on dirt/grass in the late evening.
